After my graduation, at around 11 pm, before going to sleep, I turned the radio on and tuned in to 105.9, which in the previous days aired teasers about a new format on the station: "Prepare to go Retro". I expected to still hear jazzy tunes from the soon-to-go-out Radio High, when I found out that the music finally changed to classic sounds of the past, ranging from around 70s to 80s. Then, as I wrote on a notebook, I heard a jingle, which sounded like the ones from RJ 100 and 99.5 RT (before it became Play FM), something created by Jam Creative (famous makers of radio jingles). The station has gone retro . I was sure  earthings! blog will keep track on this, and so the next day I confirmed to myself that 105.9 is now Retro 105.9 DCG-FM, and as of this writing (last Friday), I still don't know what DCG means. I thought, Why not WLA-FM? That sounds better... Nonetheless, 105.9 and FM radio as a whole now sounds better, despite of the popularity of Hot AC/"masa"...

It's already elections. I'm not a voter yet, but I'm still concerned with what will come up after the votes are cast. I also look at the coverage of every TV network, together with their large sets and nice graphics. I have always been an avid TV observant. But maybe this is the first time I felt that elections isn't much as hot as summer's heat(which was finally cooled down with the rain showers). Nonetheless, I like the creative jingles and even found out some campaign ads laughable, but I hate it when things don't make sense and turn out to be unreasonable. Like those who reference their relatives to entice voters. I thought of coming up with some music that can be related to elections.  Here are the 5 tunes I've come up with. 5. As a young boy, I'll usually get to listen to RJ 100 , an adult contemporary--that's the genre of the music they're playing--radio station in the Philippines. Also, I'll listen to songs from CDs containing mostly 80s music. And as I grew up, my interest in old school music went on. As a freshman, I listened to such stations like 99.5 RT , Magic 89.9 , 96.3 Easy Rock and 105.1 Crossover for nice old school music. I listened and searched for music from bands like Men Without Hats, Fra Lippo Lippi, V.S.T and Co., Bee Gees, Naked Eyes, Eurythmics, Industry, JoBoxers, The Go Go's, Nena, Toto, Huey Lewis and The News, Hall and Oates; and artists like Rick Astley, Phil Collins, and Michael Jackson on the Internet. But most of all, my interest for old school music grew during this recent summer and as a sophomore.
